NOTABLE ACTS AUDITIONS 2015
The NotaBle Acts Summer Theatre Festival is excited to announce that casting for the 2015 Festival will begin very shortly. A variety of plays, including one-act plays, readings, short 10-minute and 20- or 30-minute plays will be cast at the auditions, with a large number of roles available for men and women of all ages. Auditions will be held on the following dates:
Sunday, July 5th, 2:00-4:00pm
Monday July 6th, 7:30-9:30pm
*All auditions will be held at MEMORIAL HALL on the UNB Campus, Fredericton.*
Anyone who is interested in auditioning but who cannot make one of these times is invited to contact NotaBle Acts by phone (458-7406) or by e-mail (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Many roles are available for men and women in several types of plays. These are the categories:
- Four short plays (7-10 minutes each), the winners of the Taking it to the Street category of our annual playwriting contest, will be performed free of charge at Barracks Square in Fredericton’s Historic Garrison District, July 27th – 31st at noon hour. The plays will take place downtown and will be performed over the lunch hour. If you wish to take part in a street theatre performance, it is important that you have daytime flexibility during the week of the festival. If your job or other commitments might not provide you with the flexibility we’re looking for, please do not audition for these roles.
- The four winning one-act plays in our Acting Out playwriting contest will be
presented at Memorial Hall July 29th to August 1st. Each one-act play is 30-50 minutes in length.
- “Street Scenes,” three 15-30-minute site-specific plays. Precise dates for these performances are still being negotiated with venues, but the plays will have 3-4 performances during the festival, with show times ranging between 5 and 9pm.
When you audition, you will be asked to do a cold reading from the plays we are casting. You will likely be asked to read from a range of scripts and may be cast in a role for which you did not read but for which a director thinks you are suited. You do not have to prepare a piece in advance.
This year’s Festival will run from July 22nd to August 1st.
Each of these acting positions, carries a small honorarium which varies with the size of the role (and the size of the time commitment). The money is by no means enough to consider this a ‘job’ but it is a nice perk, and would be considered as income, which means that you can count this as “professional” acting experience. Financial details will be discussed further once casting decisions have been made.
If you have any questions or concerns, please email us at email@example.com, or call us at 458-7406.
Feel free to pass this message along to anyone you think would be interested in participating in the Festival. See you at the auditions!
