Meet Anna Chatterton, our 2017 Playwright In Residence.

Anna Chatterton is an award-winning theatre artist based in Hamilton, Ontario. A librettist, playwright and performer, she has worked with the Canadian Opera Company, The Banff Centre, Theatre Centre and Tarragon Theatre among several others.

We’re pleased to welcome Anna to Fredericton as this year’s NotaBle Acts’ Playwright in Residence.

In addition to offering dramaturgy to this year’s playwrights, Anna will be hosting a free public playwriting workshop on Saturday July 22. She will also be sharing some new work as part of this year’s Play Out Loud: Readings of New Plays in Development series.

“I feel the nature of this festival is works in progress, so I feel it’s important the put myself in a vulnerable position as well,” said Chatterton. “I have a piece that I’ll be sharing during one of the readings that has never been read in front of an audience. I’ve had it read with other actors but never in front of an audience and I feel that’s a key learning point for any playwright.”

Click the link below to hear Anna describing her work with this year’s festival playwrights in the lead up to our July 25 kickoff.

Catch Anna reading from her play Switched, Tuesday August 1 as part of this year’s Play Out Loud: Readings of New Plays in Development, 7:30 p.m. at the Picaroons Roundhouse – 880 Union Street.
