As we continue to unveil the lineup for this year’s NotaBle Acts Summer Theatre Festival, we’d like to introduce you to our four winning scripts for Taking it to the Streets: the fun and family-friendly winners of our Ten-Minute Playwriting Competition for 2022!

Never having accepted that it is his genetic destiny to remain earthbound, Tootsie the chicken is determined to follow his icon, the comic book superhero Chicken Man, on a path into the skies and glory. 

To Dig or Not to Dig by Julianne Richard

Directed by Armin Panjwani and featuring Rebecca Tremblay and Adrian Saliendra

A famed palaeontologist and her younger protégé spar over professional ethics, unearthing frank disapprovals of one another’s methods. 

Keeping Tabs by Brandon Hicks 

Directed By Jane Deil and featuring Diana Chávez, Kaylee MacNeil and Alex Pannier 

Online interruptions abound as every tab on Allie’s computer can’t stop chiming in as she preps for her date with Nina. 

#MomLife by Sandra Kell

Directed by Emily Darling and featuring Al Newling, Adrian Saliendra, Hailey Trifts and Gray Miller

All Jackie needs is a few moments of silence to get her fussy baby to sleep, but this evening the world, and a particularly persistent missionary, have other plans. 

Taking it to the Streets will be performed at 7:30pm nightly, July 24th-27th, outdoors at the Beaverbrook Art Gallery Courtyard.
